At 1:37pm on Tuesday August 22, 2017, westbound mixed freight train 11K began to round Horseshoe Curve in Altoona, Pennsylvania with NS #6718 (SD60I), NS #1088 (SD70ACe), and NS #9108 (C44-9W). We overheard the crew talking to the dispatcher when the train was still in Altoona and they reported that 1088 was not running, and 9108 quit working in Altoona and was blowing oil all over the place. NS #6307 (SD40E) and NS #6323 (SD40E) were on the rear of this train to help it over the mountain. |
